1986 Clevinger Solid Acoustic Standard Electric Upright Bass

This is one of the original Clevinger EUB's. It has a real upright style neck with an ebony fingerboard. The scale length 41 inches. The bridge is adjustable. It has a custom Bartolini magnetic pickup at the end of the fingerboard and a piezo pickup in the bridge. I added one of Walter Harley's active piezo buffers to it and installed a battery box. The buffer makes a huge improvement on the sound of the piezo, it's warm and full with lots of bottom end. The controls are mag volume, three way pickup selector switch (mag only, both, piezo only), treble cut, and piezo volume. I added real ebony wood knobs. The side dots are white-out and can be easily wiped off. The stand I made from a Tama cymbal stand. The bass can be played with or without the stand. The original soft case and a custom fiberboard hard case is included. The hard case has handles like the one on the front on the top and bottom. The strings are Corelli 370 Forte. As you can see in the pictures, there is some wear to the finish on the back of the neck and the body. This bass has been played a lot, both by me and the previous two owners, the first of which was the principle bassist with a major symphony, the second was his student. The fingerboard is near perfect and is an almost 1/2" thick piece of ebony. This bass plays and sounds very much like an amplified real upright.
